Different Types of Candida Treatment

10 February 2010 No Comment

Yeast infection or candidiasis is a fungal disease caused by a yeast species named candida albicans. Candidiasis is a very common disease to women, but men and kids also suffer from this disease quite often. It can be superficial like skin candidiasis, vaginitis or thrush. But it can also be life threatening sometimes. Candidiasis that becomes life threatening is called candidemia and it mainly occurs to the immunocompromised people like the patients of AIDS, cancer and diabetes.

Normally about 80% of people who have candida yeasts in the body do not get affected by it. If somehow they overgrow and highly increase in numbers then they can cause the infections. Steroids, birth control pills, stress and antibiotics help them to overgrow.

There are several medications for candida treatment. There are some over the counter medications like Tioconazole (vagistat vaginal), Miconazole (Monistat-Derm) Butoconazole (Femstat) and so on.

There are a lot of lotions, pills and troches for candida treatment. There are also Polyene antifungals such as nystatin and amphotericin B which are very effective. You can use some natural products like tea tree oil and yogart also for candida treatment.

It is very important to know when to call a doctor for quick and effective candida treatment. Healthy people can try a medication available over the counter first and if it fails then a doctor should be contacted. But people with a weakened immunity should call a doctor as soon as any of the symptoms is observed.
